Draken

Draken was an executioner in the Dwarven kingdom.  He worked at it until he was 4th level.  At this time, his cousin, whom he grew up with like a brother, was convicted of something and sentenced to death.  It happened to be Draken's responsibility to do the execution, and although other executioners offered to do it for him, he insisted on doing his duty.  Immediately after "doing his duty", he resigned as executioner and began working for the dwarven engineering firm providing security and that is when you met him.  As a result of his having to execute his cousin, he has become quite grim(dwarves are of course often born grim anyway, and this experience has just made Draken worse) and depressed and even somewhat suicidal( although he wouldn't do the deed himself, he doesen't mind putting himself in any amount of danger).  This is why he never seems to show enjoyment and is why he always seems to go to the heart of the fighting, because he doesn't care too much if he gets killed or not and actually hopes that if he does get killed, it may end his torment/guilt/depression.  (almost like elric of menlibone but not quite that bad)
If you recall, when Jay's "dark one" asked who wished to die first, Draken stepped right up.  Thus, when he had the chance to go out by suiciding into an elven army( drow or otherwise ) he absolutely couldn't resist the opportunity. Afterword, although he may appreciate the fact that Logain has shown concern for him, Draken won't necessarily be jumping for joy and appreciative of his deliverance.
Also, when Draken goes into battle and obliterates his enemies, he is taking out his frustration/guilt/anger on his enemies.  As I mentioned yesterday, if his own countrymen and cousin had to die, why not a bunch of humans/elves, or anyone else whom he cares less about.
Rob, FYI when the attractive female 1/2 elf( I forget her name ) in the current adventure initially asked Draken what he was called in his own country, he wasn't thinking "deathstriker", he was thinking "kinslayer" which some began calling him behind his back in the dwarven kingdom.  That is why she got the flat response.  Anyone calling Draken "kinslayer" will produce an immediate fight to the death(his or theirs)regardless of the circumstances.
Much of this information will come out in Draken's rambling's(including the triggerword "kinslayer") to Logain in his weakened state on the altername prime material plane, although he won't talk about it later when he is healthier and more composed.  Thus, Logain can be played as if he knows this information if it matters.
